First established as “Woodbury’s Business College” in 1884, Woodbury University is a private, coeducational, not-for-profit university located in Burbank, California. Woodbury is the second oldest higher education institution in Los Angles and one of the oldest business schools in the West. The school has also maintained a historic link with the world of business.

Woodbury University was ranked among the top Master’s Universities in the West by U.S. News & World Report and the Los Angeles Business Journal ranked Woodbury’s MBA program number nine.

Academics

Woodbury University is made up of four academic schools, which include a school of Business; Architecture; Media, Culture, and Design; and Transdisciplinary Studies. Together these schools offer an array of undergraduate degrees in various disciplines including Business, Architecture, Fashion Design, Animation, Graphic Design, Psychology, Interior Architecture, Psychology, Politics, Communication, History, Organizational Leadership, and Interdisciplinary Studies, as well as graduate degrees in Architecture, Business, and Organizational Leadership.

Woodbury University is one of the more racially diverse schools in the United States. The University enrolls roughly 40% white students, 37% Hispanic students, 7% international students, 11% Asian students, and 7% African-American students.

Accreditation

Woodbury University is regionally accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Woodbury was first accredited in 1961. Its School of Business is accredited by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) and the university belongs to the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). In 1994 the university’s Architecture program received accreditation from the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) and in 1991 the university’s Interior Architecture Programs received accreditation from the National Association of Schools of Arts and Design (NASAD). Currently the university is seeking accreditation AACSB accreditation.

Most recently, in 2008, the Woodbury University received accreditation from the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD).

Campuses

Woodbury University’s main campus is in Burbank, California just 12 miles north of downtown Los Angeles. In addition to its Burbank location, Woodbury has campus a campus in San Diego, where it offers Master of Architecture in Real Estate Development and a B.Arch. program. The university has two more small satellite campuses, one in Hollywood and another at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Headquarters.

At Woodbury’s Burbank campus there are two residence halls that can house up to 225 students. The large of the two halls, North Hall, has space for up to 160 resident. South Hall, the smaller hall, and the older of the two halls, can house up to 67 people.
