Western Kentucky University (WKU) is a public university located in Bowling Green, Kentucky. While the university has been in existence since the mid-to-late-1800’s, its official establishment was in 1906. In 1922, the school was granted authorization to begin administering four-year degree programs.

Colleges and Academic Notoriety

WKU consists of six academic colleges that are responsible for 80 majors, 70 minors, ten master’s degrees, and three PhD programs.  Among these programs, WKU’s journalism and photojournalism programs rank as best in the U.S.  More than 25 of the photojournalism department’s alumni have won the Pulitzer Prize.

Online Programs

WKU proctors a significant amount of programs that are offered completely online.  Over 50 bachelor’s and master’s degree programs and certificates are offered through WKU’s online education portal.  This availability is accommodating to students that have busy work and family schedules.
