Wayne State College (WSC), located in northeast Nebraska, is a four-year public college with an enrollment of approximately 3,500 students. It went through an evolution of name changes including State Normal School in 1910, State Normal School and Teacher's College in 1921, Nebraska State Teachers College in 1949, and then to its current name in 1963.

Academics

WSC offers over 80 majors and minors in 14 academic departments. These departments fall under the four following schools: Arts and Humanities, Natural and Social Sciences, Business and Technology, Education and Counseling. The five largest undergraduate majors are business administration, industrial technology, elementary education, criminal justice, and pre-professional (medical, dental, pharmacy, physical therapy, etc.).

Athletics

WSC offers 11 NCAA Division II sports including men's teams in baseball, indoor and outdoor track and field, basketball, football, and cross country, and women's teams in basketball, soccer, cross country running, volleyball, indoor and outdoor track and field, and softball. They are a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, and their mascot is a wildcat.

Financial Aid

WSC helps students to acquire financial aid through grants, loans, scholarships, and student employment. The amount of financial aid available for students is dependent on need and academic achievement.

Student Housing

Most freshman students are required to live in on-campus housing. Only full-time students are allowed to live on campus. Freshman students live in the following halls: Anderson, Berry, Bowen, Morey, Neihardt, Pile, and Terrace.
