Vermillion Community College (abbreviated VCC and locally referred to at just “Vermillion”) is a two-year, public community college located in the city of Ely, Minnesota, in the Arrowhead Region of the state just outside of the Superior National Forest.
The college’s campus sits on a 40-acre expanse that is situated adjacent to the Waters Canoe Wilderness Area. Given its proximity to the great outdoors, many of the institutions programs focus on outdoor education, resource management and natural resources.
VCC is a regionally accredited institution that grants two-year associate degrees in various disciplines including biology, performing arts, business, journalism, teacher education (over 20 programs), civil engineering, English, various health sciences, natural resources (7 programs), parks and recreation, physical sciences (4 programs), criminal justice, aviation and social sciences. Many of the colleges associate degrees are oriented toward preparing students to enter the work force upon graduation, while others function as transfer degrees to a four-year college or university.
