The academy was founded in 1876 and is the smallest of the five United States military academies. The academy provides training to soon-to-be Coast Guard officers and offers majors in Civil Engineering; Electrical Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; Operations Research and Computer Analysis; Management; Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering; and Government.
