Accreditation
UW Stevens Point is an accredited institution. It is given this status
by the Higher Learning Commission and the North Central Association.
2018 is the next time the accreditation will need to be reexamined. The
importance of accreditation might often be missed when you are looking
for a university to attend. Without it, you might not get the financial
aid that you need, and the courses may not be up to the caliber that
you desire.
Financial Aid
Financial aid is an area that concerns most students who are heading to
college. The cost of a college education can be intimidating. Taking
the time to fill out financial aid forms is a big step in the right
direction. There is a lot of government aid available to those that fit
into a certain financial bracket. If you do apply and find that your
parents make too much money for you to get government aid at this
point, then there are still many scholarships for which you can apply.
Some might be offered by the university, while others may be available
from other groups.
The University of Wisconsin Stevens Point does offer specific
scholarships to college freshmen that are not dependent on how much
income is in the family. Other scholarships are given by academic
departments at the university as well. Diversity Scholarships are an
option if you are in a minority group. Whether an institution provides
a scholarship or accepts one, it will be helpful for you.
Athletics
The athletics at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point offer a
large number of sports for both men and women. The Stevens Point
Pointers have an excellent history of conference championships as well
as national championships. The teams have mainly competed in the NCAA
Division III.
If you have no interest in intercollegiate sports, UW Stevens Point
does offer a variety of intramural sports that might offer you the
activity that you need to keep you going as you focus on your
schooling. Staying active in intramural sports is a great way to make
friends and stay healthy.
Student Housing
Students at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point have a number of
options in housing. There are several different halls available to the
students. Many of the halls are great for special interest groups
such as those interested in foreign language, culture, and wellness.
Those who want to stay away from alcohol while at college have the
option of staying in certain facilities where it is not allowed. The
amenities vary to some degree, but you will find the accommodations to
be perfect for your stay at college.
