The University of South Florida St. Petersburg, abbreviated USFSP and locally referred to as USF St. Pete, is an independent university and member of the University of South Florida System. The university is located in downtown St. Petersburg situated between the Bartlett Park neighborhood and Salt Creek Marine District. USFSP was established in 1965 as a branch of the University of South Florida but split away and became and autonomous institution in 2006 when it received its own accreditation status through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. USF St. Pete offers bachelor’s and master’s degree program in various fields of study. USFSP has a total annual student enrollment of approximately 4,000 (3,500 undergraduates and 500 graduate students).
