School Overview
Pennsylvania State (also known as Penn State, or just PSU) is a public, four-year university that is classified by the Carnegie Foundation as a university with “high research activity”. Penn State’s main campus is located in University Park, Pennsylvania, but the school has 24 campuses (19 commonwealth and 5 special-mission) located throughout the State. The University has one of the largest, and most loyal alumni associations of any university in the nation—as exemplified by the large percentage of alumni that donate to the school each year. The University’s mission, as stated on the school’s website, is ‘Penn State is a leader in higher education and carries out its mission of teaching, research, and service with pride and focus on the future.’ Penn State was ranked 43rd in the world among accredited universities by Academic Ranking of World Universities and is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
