The University of Toledo is a public research university in Toledo, Ohio. Also known as UT or simply Toledo, the school operates a number of campuses and sites throughout the Toledo area.

Toledo students may pursue a wide range of undergraduate and graduate degrees. Many of the school's undergraduate programs are routinely ranked by U.S. News & World Report, including business, law, engineering, education, pharmacy and nursing. In 2006 the College of Engineering Graduate School was listed the 18th best engineering graduate school by The Princeton Review.

Toledo is composed of the following colleges and schools: College of Adult and Lifelime Learning; College of Business and Innovation; School of Healthcare Business Enterprise and Innovation; College of Communication; College of Criminal Justice and Human Services; Judith Herb College of Education; College of Engineering; College of Graduate Studies; College of Health Sciences; College of Languages, Literature and Social Sciences; College of Law; College of Medicine; School of Biomarkers and Advanced Simulation; College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics; School of Green Chemistry and Advanced Renewable Energy; College of Nursing; College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Science; College of Visual and Performing Arts; Jesup W. Scott Honors College and the UTXnet World Campus.

Toledo is the 6th largest institution of higher education in Ohio, but the ratio of students to teachers is only 19 to 1. The median class size at the school is 25. Toledo also offers students many extracurricular opportunities, including undergraduate research, study abroad, service learning and honors college. Toledo also hosts active chapters of national honor societies such as Tau Beta Pi and Phi Kappa Phi.

Toledo has integrated much of its educational facilities into the cultural and service institutions in the city. The Health Sciences campus is located in the University of Toledo Medical Center. The Center for the Visual Arts is housed in the Toledo Museum of Art. Maumee Bay State Park is the site of the Lake Erie Center, an education and research facility.

The school is accredited by The Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities and The American Association of State Colleges and Universities.

Online Degree and Certificate Programs

There are various online learning, degree and certificate programs for students enrolled at University of Toledo. Earning a degree online at Toledo allows students to learn from tenured faculty, network with students throughout the world, and receive support from Toledo's online/learning ventures support services deparment.

Online degree programs are offered at the associate, bachelor, master and doctoral levels. Online associate degrees are offered in accounting, business, computers and technology. Online bachelor's degree completion programs are offered in organizational technology, computer science, criminal justice, information technology, health care administration, nursing, liberal studies and professional studies. Online master's degree programs are offered in various education and engineering fields, and in nursing. An online doctoral degree in nursing is also available.

To apply to any online degree, graduate certificate program or course, students must first be admitted to the University of Toledo. Once admitted, they can then choose to pursue an online or on-campus educational track.

Athletics

Known as the Rockets, the University of Toledo's athletic teams wear blue and gold. They play in the Mid-American Conference, with the Rockets football team boasting nine Mid-American Conference Championships, earned in 1969, 1970, 1971, 1981, 1984, 1990 (shared with Western Michigan), 1995, 2001, and 2004.

The main football rivals are the Falcons of Bowling Green State University.

Library System

The Toledo libraries are Carlson (Main); Mulford (Health Science); LaValley (Law); McMaster (Engineering); and Canaday Center (Special Collections). According to their vision statement, the libraries aim to become the university's intellectual center via a full integration of services, technology and collections.

Financial Aid and Scholarships

Toledo offers grants, scholarships, loans and work-study opportunities to help students manage the cost of their education. All financial aid queries are to be directed to the Rocket Solution Central Office; all applicants must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

Student Housing

Eight difference residence halls are available on campus: Academic House; Carter House; Presidents Hall (the Crossings); International House; MacKinnon Hall; McComas Village; Ottawa House and Parks Tower. Traditional corridor-style living and suite-style living are both available.
