The University of Southern Maine is accredited through the Commission
on Institutions of Higher Education. The assessments for this are done
every ten years. The last review for the university was in 2011. These
assessments are helpful to keep steering schools in the direction of
having standardized education that is the best for the students.

At USM there are a variety of options available for housing. Every room
has cable, high  speed Internet, micro fridge/freezer/microwave,
desk, chair, dresser, twin bed, and closet. Some rooms will have more
than this. Apartments and suites have a few more options available.
 
You can feel secure in the housing at USM because they have campus card
access and there is security at each building's desk at 7 pm every
night.
