Accreditation

The accreditation at UMM is provided by the New England Association of
Schools and Colleges, Inc. Although this organization is recognized for
helping institutions from elementary schools through colleges that
offer a postgraduate education, it is not a government organization.

Accreditation is an important aspect of a University. It helps you if
you are unable to afford to pay for your college, because an accredited
college can accept financial aid from the government. It also
encourages colleges to maintain a certain standard for the education
that you as a student will receive.

Financial Aid

There are a few different ways to get financial aid when you go to
college. Filling out the necessary applications for government
financial aid is an important first step. Not everyone will get money,
but it is definitely something to try. As you look at entering an

GPA of at least 2.4 (high school); the ACT score of 18 or SAT of 880;
for in-state students $1,000 is given per year; for out-of-state
students $2,500 is given per year.

The Presidential Scholarship – This scholarship is for first year and
transfer students; first year in-state students that have 3.0 GPA and
22 ACT score or 1000 SAT score; transfer students must have a 2.75 GPA.
In-state transfer students receive $2,000 per year; out-of-state
transfer students receive $5,500 per year,

Merrill Library offers a collection that is considered the largest in
the eastern part of Maine. As a student at the University of Maine
Machias, you will have the necessary tools that will help you as you
research or study for projects. A variety of databases as well as the
ability to get books from a variety of other libraries are great assets.

UMM offers a variety of sports for men and women. Basketball, cross
country, golf, and soccer are available for men. For the women, there
is basketball, cross country, soccer, and volleyball. The UMM Clippers
