University of California Hastings College of Law (often referred to as UC Hastings or just “Hastings”) is a public law school located in the Civic Center Neighborhood of San Francisco, California.

UC Hastings was founded in 1878 by the first Chief Justice of California, Serranus Clinton Hastings. It was also one of the first law schools launched in the Western United States and was the first law school established within the University of California (UC) system. Like many law schools UC Hastings is a university-affiliated institution, however, it is one of only a handful of university-affiliated law schools that does not share a campus with other university programs and students.
