School Overview
The University of Antelope Valley was founded in 1997 as Antelope Valley Medical College (AVMC) at which time the school received approval from the State of California to offer Emergency Medical Technology (EMT) training. It later received approval to expand its educational offering to include career training in Medical Assisting, Medical Administrative Assisting, Medical Clinical Assisting, Emergency Room Technology, Paramedic Assistance, Nursing Assisting, Medical Billing, Phlebotomy, Administrative Assisting, and Vocational Nursing.
In 2009, the AVMC was granted approval from the United States Department of Education (DEO) and the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) to offer associate, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees and the college’s name was changed to The University of Antelope Valley to reflect its new status as a four-year accredited university. Today, the University of Antelope Valley has campus locations in Lancaster and Rosamond, California.
The mission of the University of Antelope Valley is to provide the highest quality undergraduate, graduate and continuing education possible and enable its students to obtain their educational, career, and personal goals.
At the graduate level the University of Antelope Valley offers Master’s degrees in Business Management and Criminal Justice. At the undergraduate level the University offers Bachelor’s degrees in Business Management, Nursing (RN to BSN) and Criminal Justice. It also offers Associate degrees in Allied Health, Business Management, Health & Fitness, Healthcare Management, Fire Science, Paralegal Studies, Hospitality Management and Sustainable Energy Technology.
For students not interested in earning a degree University of Antelope offers certificate programs in Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Paramedics, Pharmacy Technology, Solar PV Installation, Culinary Arts, Medical Billing & Coding, Vocational Nursing, and continuing education courses CPR/First Aid, BLS for Health Care Providers, ACLS, PALS, EMT, PHTLS, Daycare, and Intravenous Therapy/Blood Withdrawal.
