Wayland Baptist University, located in Plainview, Texas, USA, is a coeducational, private Baptist university with a total of fourteen campuses in six states, five Texas cities, and Kenya. The school began as Wayland Literary Technical Institute on August 31, 1908, when it was chartered by Texas. In 1910 the name changed to Wayland Baptist College. It didn’t receive its current name, Wayland Baptist University, until 1981 when it received university status. Currently it has around 8,000 students enrolled.
