School Overview

The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), a public research institution, is located in Arlington, Texas, USA. Its campus is located just southwest of downtown Arlington in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. In 1895, the university was founded and served primarily as a military academy for much of the early 20th century. In 1965, it left the Texas A&M University System and joined the University of Texas System.

From 2008 to 2010, UTA gained 31% more students reaching a population of 32,956. It is currently the second-largest institution within the UT System. The Carnegie Foundation classifies UTA as a “High Research Activity” institution. UTA offers 80 bachelors, 74 masters, and 31 doctoral degrees.

In addition, UTA is also in operation at the Fort Worth Education Center as well as the Automation & Robotics Research Institute. There are campuses at the Fort Worth ITC and River Bend Park.
