Trinity Washington University (locally referred to as “Trinity”) is a four-year university located in Washington, D.C. It is a Roman Catholic institution that was founded in 1897 by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, a group of religious sisters who were dedicated to providing education opportunities to the poor and needy. The institution is located in close proximity to other Catholic institutions including the Dominican House of Studies and the Catholic University of America. Trinity was, and continues to be, a liberal arts women’s college, notwithstanding its status as a university.
