School Overview
The Florida Institute of Technology (FIT), locally referred to as “Florida Tech”, is a privately owned and operated research university in Melbourne, Florida. The university is comprised of five academic schools and colleges and specializes in technology, mathematics, science, and engineering education. FIT’s main campus is situated in the Florida Tech Research Park, among several high-tech organizations, not far from the Kennedy Space Center.
Florida Tech was founded as the Brevard Engineering College in 1958. Its name was changed to its current name in 1966. Florida Tech has an annual total student enrollment of just over 4,000 (about 2,000 undergraduate and 2,000 graduate students). Florida Tech also has over 3,000 online students and 1,200 students located at satellite campuses.
