School Overview

Suffolk County Community College (SCCC), a two-year public college, is located on Long Island, NY and is sponsored by SUNY (State University of New York) and Suffolk County, NY, USA. It has three main campuses in Riverhead, Brentwood, and Selden along with two “satellite” centers in downtown Riverhead and Sayville.

Founded in 1959, Suffolk County Community College is one of the biggest community colleges in the SUNY system. It offers the cheapest college tuition in Long Island. It offers over 70 degrees and certificate programs in several areas and boasts a low student to faculty ratio of 18 to 1. It also has championship athletic teams, a highly respected Honors program, and devoted faculty.

Suffolk County Community College offers the Associate in Science (A.S.), Associate in Arts (A.A.), and the Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degrees in addition to several certificate programs. Students can choose from programs in computing, communications and the arts, business, engineering, scientific studies, technical studies, liberal arts/university parallel, community and human services, and health.

A lot of the SCCC students will transfer to four-year colleges or universities to receive their bachelor’s degree. SCCC now is partnered with Cornell University through a program called “Pathways to Success” which allows students to transfer directly to a Cornell degree program.
