School Overview

Founded in 1967, Spokane Falls Community College (abbreviated SFCC and locally referred to as “The Falls”) is one of three public colleges that belongs to the Community Colleges of Spokane district, which represents over 39,000 college level students throughout the region. The other schools in the district include the Institute for Extended Learning and Spokane Community College.

SFCC is two-year community college that awards Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees, along with various career-oriented certificates. The college’s associate degrees are designed to prepare students for entry-level career positions or to transfer to a four-year university upon graduation to pursue a bachelor’s degree. SFCC’s certificate programs are designed to prepare students with the technical training and vocational knowledge they’ll need to pursue a career upon graduation. A few of the more popular programs at SFCC include physical therapy assisting, hearing instrument technology, and orthotic/prosthetic technology. The college also offers courses and programs for students interested in music, art, drama and design. In all, SFCC offers degrees and certificates in over 60 fields of study and disciplines.

Spokane Falls Community College is one of the few community colleges in the state to produce a student newspaper. The school also publishes the Communicator Online an online publication that for the last four years has placed among the top 10 community college newspaper publications in the United States.

Athletics

In addition to a comprehensive academic offering, SFCC offers various intercollegiate and intramural sports including men’s baseball, basketball, and soccer. Women’s sports include soccer, volleyball, basketball and softball. Coed sports include track and field, tennis, golf and cross country.
