Soka University of America (SUA) is located in the city of Aliso Viejo, California. The university has a unique mission, which in its own words is to “foster a steady stream of global citizens committed to living a contributive life.” The school emphasizes the principles of pacifism, creative coexistance of nature and humanity, and the promotion of human rights. Soka University offers both graduate and undergraduate degree programs.

Soka University of America is directly affiliated with Soka University of Japan, its much larger sister school located in Hachioji, Tokyo. Soka University of America is made up of a four-year liberal arts college and a graduate school. The university is the home of the Pacific Basin Research Center as well as the academic journal Annals of Scholarship.
