Silver Lake College (SLC) is a four-year liberal arts college that is owned and operated by the Roman Catholic Church. The college’s main campus is located in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. It was founded by the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity (a Congregation of Roman Catholic apostolic women) in 1885 as a two-year academy and preparatory schools. In 1935, the institution began offering four-year bachelor’s degrees and its name was changed to Holy Family College. In 1969, the institution became coeducational and in 1972 it was renamed Sliver Lake college.

Total annual enrollment at Silver Lake College is roughly 1,000, which includes students from the United States and a few foreign countries. While the college started out as an all male institution, today nearly 70% of the student body is female. Silver Lake College offers four-year bachelor’s degree programs in several fields of study and career-oriented disciplines.

In addition to its academic offerings, Silver Lake College is offers a well developed and run intercollegiate athletics program. Currently, the college sponsors four athletic teams (men’s and women’s) in basketball and cross country. There are several intramural sports programs available to all students including dance, ping pong, volleyball, etc. Silver Lake College athletic teams and student athletes compete as part of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).
