San Diego State University (SDSU) Imperial Valley is a satellite campus located in Calexico, California close to the U.S.-Mexico border. The campus was established by act of the California state legislature in 1959 to serve the residents of Imperial County California. As the Imperial Valley campus is a division of SDSU it also shares the university’s accreditation status. The Imperial Valley campus operates according to the same academic calendar as SDSU’s main campus.

In 2007, San Diego State University Imperial Valley began offering four year degree programs. They recently graduated their first graduating glass.

A new branch of the Imperial Valley campus has been established in Brawley, California.
