School Overview
Sacramento City College, also known as SCC, was established in Sacramento, California in 1916. Though originally founded as a department of Sacramento High School, the school is now a two-year community college in the Los Rios Community College District. It is the oldest post-secondary school in Sacramento.
Fully accredited by WASC (the Western Association of Schools and Colleges), SCC offers its more than 25,000 students the opportunity to earn an Associate of Science degree, Associate of Art degree, diploma or certificate.
Along with academic prospects, Sacramento City College also offers opportunities for those interested in extracurricular activities and athletics. There may be no official sororities or fraternities on campus, but SCC is home to more than 50 student clubs and groups.
Known as the Panthers, SCC’s 18 athletic teams belong to both the Big 8 Conference and the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA). SCC boasts alumni who have participated in the World Series, Olympic Games, NFL playoffs, as well as world championship boxing.
