This educational program is designed to prepare students, under the supervision of physicians and other health care professionals, to draw blood samples from patients using a variety of intrusive procedures. This program frequently includes in depth instruction in basic vascular anatomy and physiology, skin puncture techniques, blood physiology, venipuncture, safety and sanitation procedures, venous specimen collection and handling, and applicable regulations and standards.
