Also known as Oklahoma State, O-K State, O-State and OSU, Oklahoma State University is a sun-grant, land-grant coeducational public research university in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The Carnegie Foundation classifies Oklahoma State as a research university with high research activity, and it is is listed by the Princeton Review as one of 120 Best Western Colleges for 2011.

The school has six colleges, offering nearly 200 undergraduate degrees. It is accredited by the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities and the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.


Known as the Cowboys, Oklahoma State's sports teams boast 51 national championships and play in the NCAA Division I as well as in the Big 12 Conference. The Homecoming game is a major event, drawing an estimated 40,000 alumni and more than 70,000 participants annually.

Financial Aid and Scholarships

Oklahoma State offers grants, loans, scholarships and work-study to help students defray the cost of attendance. All applicants must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

Library System

Oklahoma State's library has nearly 3 million titles, with 3.7 million volumes, 1.2 million e-books and 2.7 bibliographic records maintained. Branch libraries include Architecture and Electronic Publishing.

Student Housing

There are 26 residence halls, more than 15 dining options and seven family-first apartment complexes on campus. While in the past traditional dormitories dominated student living, apartment-style building now make up approximately half of the living quarters. In 2005, two high-rise residence halls were destroyed and replaced with the Village Suites on its site as part of this trend.
