School Overview
Northeast Texas Community College (NTCC) serves the Northeast region of the state of Texas. The college’s main campus is located near the city of Chapel Hill in Titus County and is set on 375 acres of land. It’s situated about seven miles southeast from the county seat, Mount Pleasant.
NTCC, like a majority of community colleges, offers several programs that enable students to earn an Associate of Arts (A.A.) or Associate of Science (A.S.) degree. Most credits earned at NTCC can conveniently be transferred to a four-year college or university. Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degrees are also available through NTCC, as well as certificates that prepare students to enter the workforce immediately following graduation. NTCC also offers concurrent enrollment options for high school juniors and seniors.
Students can obtain a bachelor’s degree in several disciplines including teacher education and criminal justice from Texas A&M University-Texarkana by taking courses offered at the NTCC campus. Texas A&M University at College Station and NTCC have entered into a partnership that provides easy transition for students who have completed the Associate of Science (A.S.) in Biomedical Science at NTCC to a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Biomedical Science at Texas A&M. However, to transfer credits, students completing an A.S. degree must maintain a minimum 3.6 GPA, and they must not have any grades below a “B” in any science or math courses.
NTCC’s honors program was launched in 2007 and is designed for high achieving students that academically motivated. Fifteen Presidential Scholars are chosen from NTCC each fall. Freshmen with exemplary grades are admitted into the program, as well as graduating high school seniors who have demonstrated superior academic performance. NTCC honors students have presented work at the National Collegiate Honors Conference, as well as the Great Plains Honors Conference.
NTCC offers housing for up to 214 students through Residential Housing East (RHE) and Residential Housing West (RHW). Students must be at least 17 years old in order to live in NTCC student housing.
