North Country Community College (NCCC), locally referred to as the North Country College of Essex & Franklin, is a 2-year community college located in the city of Saranac, in Upstate New York. It was founded in 1967, has a total annual enrollment of approximately 2,400 students and employs over 140 full-time faculty and roughly 300 part-time faculty and instructors. NCCC is unique among New York’s higher education institutions in that it is the only one that is located within the Adirondack Park, the largest national park in the contiguous United States (and also one of the most beautiful). In addition to its Saranac campus, NCCC has branch campuses in the cities of Ticoderoga and Malone.

NCCC is a highly ranked community college. In 2012, the college was ranked No.22 on the Washington Monthly‘s list of Best Community Colleges. It was recently ranked the best community college in New York and is one of the fastest growing 2-year community colleges in the nation. Industry publications including Community College Week and Military Times have also ranked NCCC among the top community colleges in the United States.

Academics

North Country Community College offers career-focused certificates, diplomas and two-year associate degrees in various disciplines and academic fields including business, technology, liberal arts, the sciences, allied health professions and vocational trades. The most popular fields of study at NCCC include nursing, business, radiologic technology, sports management, events management, massage therapy, recreation leadership and liberal arts. The college offers associate degrees designed to prepare students for entry-level jobs and 2+2 transfer degrees designed to prepare students to pursue a bachelor’s degree at a four-year university.
