School Overview

Mt. San Antonio College is a community college located in Walnut, California, a suburb east of Los Angeles. Commonly referred to as Mt. SAC, the school specializes in aviation, offering Associate degrees and professional training that attracts students from around the United States. The student enrollment of over 50,000 makes it one of the largest community colleges in the state of California.

Mt. SAC is highly regarded in the aviation industry, having won the Loening Trophy for Best Aviation Program twice (1987, 2005). Pilot training is available for a broad range of aircraft, including the largest Associate of Science Commercial Flight program in the state, operating out of nearby Brackett Airport.
Students can also pursue an array of degrees in other fields of aviation. This includes training at Mt. SAC’s nationally recognized aircraft maintenance program and a Bachelor’s of Science in Aviation Management through a partnership with Southern Illinois University.

Many out-of-state students are attracted to Mt. SAC to become air traffic controllers with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Mt. SAC is one of only 36 schools in the country that offers the FAA’s College Training Initiative (CTI), in which students can earn an Associate of Science degree in Aviation Science.

Students may also pursue general coursework at Mt. SAC and transfer credits to a number of four-year colleges and universities in the state of California.

The Mt. SAC Flying Team is one of the top ranked community college teams in the nation, having achieved a #1 ranking in 2000, 2002 and 2005. The team is a member of the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate Flying Association and the National Intercollegiate Flying Association.
