School Overview
When Southwestern Technical College and Worthington Community College merged in 1997 the results was comprehensive technical school and community college known as Minnesota West Community and Technical College. Locally referred to as “Minnesota West”, Minnesota West Community and Technical College is a two-year, accredited technical and community college based in Pipestone, Minnesota with additional locations in Jackson, Granite Falls, Canby and Worthington, MN. In addition to its five campuses, Minnesota West has four education centers. The college offers technical certificates, diplomas and associate degrees, as well as two-year academic associate degrees in over 60 fields of study and disciplines.
Minnesota West’s four branch campuses (formerly technical institutes) located in Granite Falls, Canby, Jackson and Worthington are a remnant of Minnesota West’s predecessor, Southwestern Technical College. In 1985 the four area technical institutes were merged in 1985 to create Southwestern Technical College which was merged with Worthing Community College 1997 to establish Minnesota West. Today Minnesota West belongs to the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system.
