Middle Tennessee State University is a public university located in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Commonly known as MT or MTSU, the school is highly regarded for its programs in music, the recording industry, aerospace and various fields of research and development. MTSU has research partnerships with the U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps, as well as the Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

With eight different colleges and 35 academic departments, MTSU provides undergraduate and graduate degrees in over 80 fields of study. The 460-acre campus in Murfreesboro includes two apartment complexes and 13 student-housing buildings. MTSU also hosts four fraternities with chapter houses on Greek Row.

In 2009, Forbes Magazine included MTSU in the top 100 public universities in the United States. MTSU is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. It is also a member of the State University and Community College System of Tennessee and the Tennessee Board of Regents.

Through its online portal, MTSU now offers its students the ability to complete degrees and courses online via the Internet. The university offers various online degrees at both the bachelor’s and master’s level. It also offers teacher training, teacher certification, teacher licensure and professional development courses online.
