School Overview
Marygrove College is an independent liberal arts college located on a 53-acre campus in Detroit, Michigan. The college is a Catholic affiliated education institution that is sponsored and conducted by the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Notwithstanding its Catholic origins and affiliation, the institution is open to students and faculty from diverse religious backgrounds and faiths. The college’s campus is relatively small, when compared with other major Detroit colleges, but it is well maintained, landscaped, and features several prominent works of architecture. The college’s Liberal Arts buildings and the Madame Cadillac, designed by the D.A. Bohlen & Son architecture firm, are amazing architectural feats of Tudor Gothic design which have beautiful stained glass windows, intracut wood carvings, arched doorways, elaborate wrought iron gates, unique stonework and high peaked ceilings.
The college has a total annual enrollment of roughly 1,300 campus-based students, 1,600 distance learning students and 1,200 adult students enrolled in the college’s Professional Development for Teachers program. Currently, Marygrove college offers over 30 bachelor’s degrees, 8 master’s degrees and 20 certificate programs in various professional and academic subject areas. Marygrove also offers an exceptional and nationally recognized online Master in Art of Teaching (MAT) degree program. Over the last ten years, more educators (over 28,000) have graduated from the MAT degree program at Marygrove than from any other college or university in nation. Marygrove’s online MAT program is designed to help working adults and aspiring career professionals completed their degree in just two years.
