School Overview
Martin Luther College is a pastoral training college located in New Ulm, Minnesota. It’s operated by the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. The curriculum is designed to train elementary and high school teachers, staff ministers in WELS missions, churches and schools. During the school year Martin Luther College has about 800 students with 82 educators. The college is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of Colleges and Schools, and approved by the Minnesota Board of Teaching.
Many of the college’s students come form Area Lutheran High Schools that are affiliated with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. A few students come from public schools and international programs. The highest percentage of students come form the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod’s Ministerial Training Schools, Michigan Lutheran Seminary and the Luther Preparatory School.
Campus housing includes Centennial, dormitory for freshman women, Concord, housing freshmen and sophomore men, Augustana, housing sophomore and senior women, and for junior and senior men there is Summit.
Intramural sports, drama, and Student Senate are some of our extra curricular activities offered at Martin Luther College. The college also offers several student produced publications including a student magazine the Knight’s Page and Studium Excitare, a journal of confessional language studies. Martin Luther offers students a well rounded education and a plethora or extracurricular opportunities.
