School Overview

Long Beach City College, commonly known as LBCC as well as “City,” is a community college in Long Beach, California. The school is separated into two campuses: the Liberal Arts Campus, located in Lakewood Village, and The Pacific Coast Campus in Central Long Beach. The only institution in the Long Beach Community College District, LBCC provides education to the cities of Long Beach, Signal Hill, Lakewood, and Santa Catalina Island. LBCC enrolled nearly 27,000 students during its Spring 2007 semester.

The college has designed several Student Support Services and Programs which are engineered to engage high quality learning, both in the classroom and out of it. Support Services create a collaborative environment between the community and the college where students can fulfill their academic goals.

Long Beach City College’s 21 athletic programs are renowned for their excellence regionally and nationally. Known as the Vikings, LBCC’s sports teams have collectively claimed 16 national and over 80 state championships, as of 2006.
