Lee University was started in 1918 from a small Bible institute from the Church of God of Cleveland, TN. It soon became a Bible college and junior college in 1948. Twenty years later, Lee became a four-year liberal arts college and in 1997, it was able to offer graduate degrees as a comprehensive liberal arts university. Lee is still sponsored by the Church of God.

The foundational purpose of all educational programs at Lee is to develop within the student’s knowledge, appreciation, understanding, ability, and skills which will prepare them for responsible Christian living in a complex world.
Lee University Mission

Lee University offers certificates as well as bachelor’s and master’s degree programs to over 5,300 students each year (approximately 4,820 undergraduates). Lee has 76 undergraduate programs and 35 graduate. Additionally, Lee offers 6 online bachelor’s programs and 4 online master’s programs.

Academically, Lee students enjoy a 17 to 1 student-to-teacher ratio. Socially, Lee has over 100 campus clubs and 90 different service learning opportunities.
