Lawson State Community College (also known as “Lawson State”) is a public two-year community college based in Birmingham, Alabama. The college also has a branch campus in Bessemer, Alabama.

Lawson State was recently ranked among the top two-year community colleges in the nation, due in part to its exceptional student and teacher satisfication ratings. Students find Lawson State to offers an excellent academic program and a satisfying student life, and teachers agree!

The college is fully accredited to award two-year associate degrees and technical certificates in various academic fields and career-oriented disciplines, including business, health, engineering technologies, family services, construction trades, culinary arts, legal studies, public administration and nursing, among many others.
