Lawson State Community College (also known as “Lawson State”) is a public two-year community college based in Birmingham, Alabama. The college also has a branch campus in Bessemer, Alabama.

The college is fully accredited to award two-year associate degrees and technical certificates in various academic fields and career-oriented disciplines, including business, health, engineering technologies, family services, construction trades, culinary arts, legal studies, public administration and nursing, among many others. Advanced placement option for licensed practical nurses (LPN) and nursing education. Nursing students must pass nursing entrance exam or have 20 ACT or comparable SAT.
