Las Positas College is a two-year community college located in the city of Livermore in California’s Bay Area. Las Positas was first established in 1963 as a branch of Chabot College. Both schools are part of the Chabot-Las Positas Community College District. Today Las Positas is a independent, fully accredited comprehensive community college that offers degrees and certificates in various fields of study and disciplines.

Las Positas has at total enrollment of about 10,000 students. It offers two-year associate degrees designed to prepare students for careers or to transfer to a four-year college or university to pursue a bachelor’s degree. The college also offers courses and programs for adults simply seeking enrichment opportunities. Las Positas has articulation agreements with several four-year institutions, including all institutions with the University of California System (except UCLA and UC Berkeley). Currently Las Positas offers 22 Associate of Science (A.S.) and Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S) degrees designed to prepare students for careers, 16 Associate of Arts (A.A.) degrees for student wanting to transfer to a four-year institution, and 42 technical certificate programs.

Among community colleges in the area, Las Positas is well known for its award winning public speaking team. It is also recognized for having one of the top ranked forensics programs in the nation.
