The city of Lacey, Washington has a population of nearly 43,000. It was founded in 1966 as a suburb of Olympia and is located in Thurston County, which has an estimated population of 252,000.

Lacey has a strong economy and is home to diverse array of businesses, ranging from specialty farms and fabrication plants to retail to distribution centers. Lacey continues to grow and as it does businesses continue to come to the city. Regal 16 Movie Theater, one of largest theaters in the regions, recently launched a new entertainment center in Lacey. Other businesses includeing Best Buy, Costco, Lowe’s, LA Fitness and The Home Depot have also moved into Lacey over the last few years. Business in Lacey is booming.

Lacey is home to several public and private schools, Thurston County’s largest school district and Saint Martin’s University. Saint Martin’s University was established in 1895 as an all-boys colleges and is one of Washington’s oldest higher education institutions. Today St. Martin’s is a coeducational, liberal arts university that offers a comprehensive selection of baccalaureate degrees as well as several graduate degree programs. The university is best known for its education, business administration, and civil & mechanical engineering programs. The university also offers programs and courses at Joint Base Lewis-McChord and Centralia College.

Another popular college in the region is Evergreen State College. While the state college is not located in Lacey, it is located in nearby Olympia.
