School Overview
Hazard Community and Technical College (abbreviated HCTC), is an open-admissions, two-year community college that belongs to the Kentucky Community and Technical College System, a compendium of 16 colleges comprising over 70 campuses. The college was founded in 1968 as Hazard Community College but was changed to Hazard Community and Technical College in 2003 to reflect the fact that is overs a diverse and extensive array of career-oriented technical programs.
In addition to its campus in Hazard, Kentucky, HCTC has branch campuses located across the state. HCTC is regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) to award associate degrees and diplomas. HCTC offers two year associate of arts, associate of science and associate of applied science degrees, as well as career-oriented certificates in various fields of study, including business, construction trades, education, health sciences, liberal arts, automotive technology and human services.
