Hawaii Community College is a public two-year community college located in the city of Hilo, Hawaii on the largest of the Hawaiian Islands. It was founded during the late 20th century and is a commuter college that does not offer any residential programs. It belongs to the University of Hawaii System of higher education institutions in the Hawaiian Islands, the flagship institution being the University of Hawaii in Manoa in Honolulu. Hawaii Community College is regionally accredited by the Western Association of Schools and College to award associate degrees. Given its close proximity to the University of Hawaii at Hilo, the two institutions share several student facilities, including administrative offices, classrooms and the library.
