School Overview

Green River College (abbreviated GRC) is located in the city of Auburn, in Washington state. With just over 9,000 students GRC is one of Washington’s larger smaller colleges. It was founded in 1963 but started out as an adult education division of the Auburn School District in 1945. The institution began offering technical and career-oriented programs just after it was chartered as a community college in 1964. In addition to its main campus in Auburn, GRC has branch campuses in Kent and Enumclaw, Washington.

Green River College offers a selection of technical programs designed to help students prepare for various occupations as well as associate degrees intended for those who plan on transferring to a four-year college or university upon graduation. Technical programs and degrees are offered in over 40 fields of study and professional disciplines. One of the college’s most popular programs is in Aviation Technology. In this program, students prepare for various careers in aviation, including a career as a pilot. Students who are intent on attending a four-year college following the completion of their associate degree typically pursue a business, information technology or engineering track.

Green River offers a special program in English for foreign students and students that speak a language other than English. The college is well known for having an exceptional international program that caters to the unique educational needs of foreign students. As of 2012, GRC was ranked No.10 in the nation among community colleges with international programs. The college has an annual enrollment of approximately 1,500 students from over 50 foreign countries across the world.
