School Overview
Grace Christian University, located in Wyoming, MI (near Grand Rapids, MI), is a privately owned and operated Christian college. The college is unique among Christian colleges in that it is a fundamentalist Christian education institution that subscribes to the premillennial Mid-Acts Dispensational tradition. It is regionally accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate and bachelor’s degrees and holds national accreditation through the Association for Biblical Higher Education.
Grace Christian University is directly affiliated with the Grace Gospel Fellowship, a denominational organization for Grace Ministries International, a large missionary group of the “Grace Movement”. The college’s affiliation with the Grace Gospel Fellowship is voluntary – the college is still an independent higher education organization.
According to the Grace Christian University website, each degree program found at Grace consists of three major components, including:
- General education courses
- Biblical and theological studies
- A vocational major
Grace Christian University seeks to ensure that each student graduates with great achievements in the following four domains:
- Knowing – increase their knowledge of God’s word and God’s general revelation
- Being – fbecome a person of strong character who can apply God’s Word to their lives
- Doing – establish skills for living and working in the world (communication, life skills, working with others)
- Serving – develop a heart of compassion and concern through their service to the school, church, and society
Athletics is an important part of the culture and student life at Grace Christian University. The college sponsors Grace Tiger men’s and women’s intercollegiate teams in various sports including basketball, soccer, volleyball, track & field, cross country, tennis, and bowling. The college is a member of the Association of Christian College Athletics (ACCA) and the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA). The men’s basketball program at Grace Christian University is well-known for having won 7 national championships between 1994 and 2012. The college also has a well developed intramural athletics program where all of the college’s students can participate in sports such as golf, table tennis, skiing, soccer, tennis, racquetball, golf, handball, volleyball and wallyball.
