Established in 1732, Georgia was the last of the original 13 U.S. colonies. Nearly 200 years later, with nearly 10 million people, Georgia is the 9th most populated state in the country. Georgia is also a beautiful place to live. From the magnificent Blue Ridge Mountains in the north to the central Piedmont foothills where rivers cascade down into the continental plains in the south, Georgia truly has some spectacular natural scenery.
Today Georgia has a strong economy, is one of the most industrialized states in the South and serves as a transportation and communications hub for the region. Major industries in Georgia include food production, food processing, textiles and apparel, tobacco, paper products, and transportation and electrical equipment. Georgia has a strong and growing healthcare industry as well. You’ll find hospitals, medical centers, nursing care facilities and assisting living centers of just about every kind in Georgia.

If you’re an aspiring nurse with your sight set on Georgia, then you’re in for a pleasant surprise. Georgia has a vibrant healthcare community and nurses are in high demand. To practice nursing in Georgia, you must pass a state-administered nurses exam, but before you can do this you must obtain an education.
To work as a licensed practical or vocational nurse (LPN/LVN) in Georgia you must earn a diploma or associate degree in nursing from an approved program.
