Founded in Dayton, Ohio in 1979, Full Sail University is a private, for-profit university that relocated to Florida in 1980 and to its current location in Winter Park in 1989. While nationally accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC), Full Sail is not regionally accredited.

Full Sail offers associate’s, bachelor’s and master’s degrees in various career-oriented disciplines including design, film production, video production, computer animation, audio and other entertainment and media-related fields of study. In all, Full Sail offers students a selection of over 35 degrees and 2 graduate certificate programs. The school started offering online degree programs in 2007 and currently has about 17,000 students. TA Associates, a private equity firm, is one of the owners of Full Sail University.
