The University of Arkansas- Fort Smith (also known as UAFS) is one of eleven campuses that make up the University of Arkansas System. Located in Fort Smith, Arkansas, this co-educational, public, four-year university is the fifth largest university in Arkansas in terms of student enrollment. Fall 2012 student enrollment was about 7,587. A major advantage to some out-of-state students leaving in nearby states is that the University of Arkansas offers in-state tuition not only to Arkansas residents, but residents of Texas, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Missouri, Mississippi, and Louisiana.
UAFS has seven academic colleges through which it provides work-based learning and community education, technical certificates, certificates of proficiency, associate of applied science degrees, associate of general studies, associate of arts degrees, and bachelor’s degrees. The university’s seven colleges include The College of Applied Science and Technology, The College of Business, The College of Health Sciences, The College of Education, The College of Humanities and Social Sciences, The College of Languages and Communication, and The College of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics.
