Farmingdale State College (FSC) is a four-year public higher education institution in the city of Farmingdale on New York’s Long Island. FSC was founded in 1912 as the New York State School of Agriculture on Long Island, a school that offered career training and advanced education in applied agriculture. Between 1912 and 2006 the institution changed its name 9 times, just about once every ten years. Prior to becoming Farmingdale State College, it was known as the State University of New York at Farmingdale.
FSC offers both two-year associate and four-year bachelor degrees in various disciplines. Bachelor’s degrees are offered in biology, business, engineering, aviation science, psychology, information systems, and health sciences. Associate degrees are offered various disciplines, including agriculture, business, computer information systems, engineering, health services, nursing and law enforcement, among many others. In addition to accredited degrees, students can pursue professional certificates in various technical fields and specialties.
