With more than 105,000 residents, Elgin,
Illinois, located in Kane County, is one
of the fastest growing cities in Illinois.
The ethnically diverse city offers a
variety of recreational and cultural
entertainment options including 1,600
acres of parks and 4,000 acres of county
forest preserves. These areas provide a
multitude of outdoor pursuits including
golfing, skiing, ice skating, swimming,
boating, hiking, biking, and fishing. The
Centre of Elgin is one of the nation’s
largest municipal recreation venues and
houses an aquatic park, climbing wall, and
other activities. Elgin is also home to a
riverboat casino and has a thriving arts
community and stylish restaurant scene.

Elgin’s residents have access to three
Metra train stations, which provide daily
service between Elgin and Chicago. PACE, a
local bus company, is also available,
connecting riders to downtown Chicago and
neighboring suburbs including
Carpentersville, Schaumburg, Dundee, and
St. Charles.

Calling itself “The City in the Suburbs,”
Elgin is located just 35 miles northwest
of Chicago and provides a unique balance
of suburban and urban living. The National
Civic League has twice named Elgin an All
American City.

Elgin is home to Judson
, a private four-year
liberal arts college affiliated with the
Evangelical Church. Judson University has
forged a partnership with the City of
Elgin’s businesses, non-profit agencies,
and schools, and encourages students to be
active participants in the community. More
than 1,100 students attend the school
where they are able to choose from more
than 50 undergraduate
. The self-proclaimed
“quaint” college holds the annual World
Leaders Forum, hosting dignitaries such as
Mikhail S. Gorbachev, Tony Blair, and
George W. Bush.
