This program is designed to prepare students, under the supervision of a physician, to study and record electrical activity in the brain and nervous system for purposes of patient monitoring and supporting diagnoses. This program frequently includes in depth instruction in EP, EEG, and PSG equipment operation and procedural techniques; patient communication and care; application of recording electrodes; taking and abstracting patient histories; and data recording and documentation.
