School Overview
Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU), often referred to locally as “Eastern”, is a four-year state university based in Portales, New Mexico. In addition to its main campus in the cit of Portales, ENMU also has two branch campuses, one in Roswell and the other in Ruidoso.
ENMU was first established as the Eastern New Mexico Junior College (ENMJC) in 1927. In 1940, ENMJC added a junior and senior year of college and began offering bachelor’s degrees. Reflecting its new status as four-year college the institution was renamed Eastern New Mexico College (ENMC). In 1947, ENMC received regionally accreditation as a liberal arts college by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. In 1949, the college began offering a limited number of master’s degrees and in the same year its name was changed to Eastern New Mexico University.
ENMU offers Associate of Science, Associate of Arts,Associate of Applied Science, Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree programs in various academic fields of study and career oriented disciplines. Degrees and program selection vary by campus.

Admissions Policies/Requirements
Students must pass university skills placement test to enroll in math or English courses. Remedial reading course required if test not passed. Student may be exempt based on ACT scores. Some Health Services programs require completion of a pre-admission series of courses, have minimum course grades and GPAs. |
