People interested in working in child care or education can learn valuable skills through an online early childhood development associate’s program. Skills and valuable knowledge will be developed in child communication, nutrition, health, special education, infant care, young child education methodology, and various other childcare courses.

Among the opportunities available for graduates of early childhood development programs include daycare, Head Start instruction, and casework and teaching aide jobs. However, many graduates apply earned credits towards bachelor’s programs. Those with bachelor’s degrees expand their jobs opportunities and usually find higher paying jobs.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) projects above average job growth in early childhood development fields. During 2002, median annual income for childcare administrators neared $34,000. Earning a degree will not automatically qualify anyone for a job or certain salary level, but there are numerous available opportunities for people with training in early childhood development. Moreover, there will be plenty of opportunities for qualified teachers and childcare providers because of the new emphasis being placed on the benefits of formal education for young children.
