This program is designed to prepare students, under the supervision of physicians, to utilize medical ultrasound techniques to gather sonographic data used to diagnose a variety of conditions and diseases. This program frequently includes in depth instruction in reviewing, obtaining, and integrating patient histories and data; physiologic, anatomic, and pathologic data recording; patient instruction and care; sonography equipment operation; sonographic data processing; and professional standards and ethics.
